To create a new file do one of the following:
Select the command.
Click the New Document button to the right of the last document tab.
From the Home screen's Home pane, open the Templates tab and click a file to immediately create a .vwx file based on that template (see The Home screen).
From the Home screen, click Blank Document to immediately create a blank .vwx file (based on the Blank template).
If you used the command or New Document button, the Create Document dialog box opens.
Select the type of document to create.

Create blank document |
Opens a new empty drawing file. To set your preferred scale, units, and other basic settings for blank documents, create a template named Blank (Imperial).sta or Blank (Metric).sta, depending on the measurement units for your operating system; see Creating templates. |
Use document template |
Opens a new drawing with settings that were saved in a template file. See Concept: Templates. |
Template list |
The list is searchable and sorted by where the templates are saved: the user folder or workgroup folder for custom templates (see Vectorworks preferences: User Folders pane for location information), and the default templates that are included with Vectorworks. Search the list by name to find the desired template, or click the disclosure arrows to expand the list. Select the template to use. |
